best $20 you will every spend in Ill is to take the MSF class . Its a state sponsored class 20 hour class. At the end of the class you will take the test for your licence. They will give you a card that you turn in at the DMV for a class M. ALL cycles and helmets are provided. Other states have this class but charge up to $300 for it. In Ill the state collects some money from plates and new cycles to fund this program. It also gave me an insurance break through allsatate. Classes fill up superquick.
