Start with a large plastic bottle cut lengthways to make the hull. Then add boxes, bottle-tops, loo-roll tubes etc etc to make it look like a boat. Apply paint liberally.
off the top of my head a plastic two liter soda bottle and 2 empty 12oz cans as outriggers look up catamaran on a picture search
cut a boat shape out of tin/baking foil, at the stern cut 2 x1/4 slit in centre.put boat on water in large bowl ,put one drop of detergent in slit boat will `sail` forwards.due to surface tension .hope this helps
Look at the work of John Taylor at the Garde Rail Gallery, Seattle, website. John Taylor makes model boats of rubbish and found objects. They aren’t to scale but convey the feel of the original. I hope these inspire you. They don’t float, at least they’re not made to, but if you can find some old wood being thrown out you could always make a hull that floats and build something similar on top.
