Narrow boats do not need to be registered other than via a your insurance for the craft ,the moorings licence with the authorities (usually British waterways) which will be either a residential moorings licence, continuous cruising licence or a moorings licence.the latter will require your home address.

You need to register your boat with the Environment Agency if you want to take your boat on the River Thames.
There are two main categories, powered and unpowered. For each, there are a number of licence options and ways to pay.

As a general rule of thumb, the annual rate for personal motor boats for 2007 is £12.62 per square metre, with the minimum charge being £63.10 for up to 5sqm.
