Sea Horse asked:
Thinking of buying an impreza turbo. Would like to know what the difference is between the three main models.
I’m talking about the original shape up to about the year 2000. Is there power differences mainly?
I,m pretty sure all models of this age are 2.0 litres.

The normal WRX is cheaper of course. I want to say it has the 2.0 and the STI has the 2.5. There is a big difference in power of course. I know the normal wrx 5speed trans is junk if you want to make any power and the STI trans is built for big power. Interiors are different. Big wing on the STI and smaller on the WRX. And big scoop on the STI and little on the WRX. Different intercoolers.
get your hands on a P1 and then you will see the difference
.. But i would prefer the evo to be honest far more reliable
I LOVE THE 22B P1 Nicest car ever made!
in 2000 they didnt have the wrx and sti. wrx came in 2002 and the sti came in 2004. or at least not in america. in 2000 they made a impreza L with a 2.2 (142hp) and the 2.5 rs (165 hp). the 2002 wrx has the ej20 motor 2.0 (227hp) and the sti in 2004 with the ej25 motor 2.5 (300hp) all of them are all-wheel drive.
Yes they were all 2 liter engines back in 2000. Here in the U.S. we didn’t even receive the WRX until 2002 so many people don’t know that the WRX series actually came out in the early ’90s. I don’t know all of the differences in the non US models but here’s a link that will give you all of the info you want on the WRX series:
I hope this helps.
big difference in insurance rates
This company can give you full detail about different between Subaru Impreza WRX WRX Sti
there is no sti in the models up too 2000 and 2.5 only in the new 06 shapes , yes they are all 2 litre the turbo is a great car had a t reg and she was exellent fun , the b.h.p. was put up by putting a straight thro de cat system on her there are loads you can do on this model too ..i now have a sti on a 53 with the pro drive pack on she is awsome and have had alot done to bump up the b.h.p yet again ..but the turbo was more fun , as no trackction control and you could drift her out around the corners at a very good speed ..dip the clutch in 3rd for a extra boost ..(tip)lol
the turbo is the better one , as the sport also around in 2000 has no turbo , like i say the sti version wasnt brought out till after then ..good luck and yeah subarus rule the road , dont let anyone tell you diffrent !!!xx
The Subaru WRX STI is the fastest Subaru Impreza model, the Impreza WRX is the second fastest, and the Subaru Impreza Turbo Base is the base model.
2000 mods down ? good luck my man as it will be a subi someone got rid of to get a new one as they probably fornicated the thing every which way possible.
Get a 2008 /o7/again if lucky 06 with less than 1000k dealership test driven mls. and for me 1k isnt cool as this is break in time. The
2.5i impreza sedan and the hatch are not” turbobased”
whatever the” base”[ you refer it as] means. Rather they are not turbocharged and are the impreza base models .170 hps
Then my car, a very subjective to preference of aesthetics change from previous aggressive looking subis.Thankfully it is quite the contrary as performane has improved and the weight is 50 lbs less w/ more room in back and welcome luxurious interior upgrade.223 hp [i dynod by a Pro rally racer at his san diego garage @ 250 hp as subi america is conservative w the true guts.
both of the wrx models are turbocharged and have stepped up to 2.5 liter. The sti [speed demon of the family] is stuck in 07 model as far as i see. w/ 290 hps w/ the turbocharged engine. 16 to 20k for the impreza,24 to 28k for impreza wrx.The 07 sti still shows it at 35k.
The wrx tr [tuner ready] is exact as wrx but left ***** for tuning crazed market. only 500 bucks less w/ 2000k worth of left off parts. Thus, not a good deal.prices vary coast to coast and these are strong estimates only as dealer incentives can be dished to buyer etc… depending on dealers supply and demand.
Any person who has the subi bug bite and the 35k and insurance premiums covered and is mature enough to use good judgement [really the same applies of the screaming wrx on the mature judgement] go sti . my attitude is if you cant afford to loose it dont buy it. thus, fully cover with insurance with no corners cut.
btw people who broadside a wrx die as the pillar is so strong fire depts need alternative to jaws of life to extract subi driver[usually they are surrounded by a cocoon of metal and walk away with scratches]
So any one can yap the motor mouth driven by bad info. and bloated ego with stupid trailer trash comments bashing the very car that will 1.be 150% more reliable, and 2 possibly the car that will render them a pancake if they broadside me.3 the lowest price car in america with turbo 223 hp @ under 25k .
if pretty is what they want they can go get a pink v.w.
Me ? i want ugly ,slightly obnoxious but not so much so where cops pick out for enforcement, and insurance is nuts.
And it finally got here and i finally got one.
I couldnt be happier and i have never loved to drive like i do now.
all your answers here
the WRX STi is a monster bro the STi is full racing spec all rally inspired he STi comes with stock stg 3 short shifting the turbo is massive everything about that car is awesome the areodynamics are great that car is perfect its really fast for a stock car a 2.5 litre boxer horizontally opposed engine its a dream
First of all it depends what country you are in.The US spec are tottaly different to the rest of the world.
Most of your answers tell you the diff in performance between wrx and sti already.
I bought the wrx due to the fact that it was cheaper to get sti performance and more, than the price diff between the two models.I have had mine for two years, use it for track days twice a month in that two year period, and havnt had a days hassle.
My spouse and i have really been looking into solar energy for approximately a calendar year and my partner and i last but not least made the decision based upon the pairing of the governtment incentive options combined with extremely affordable loans. My spouse and i have now really been researching into solar power for approximately a year or so and then the two of us last but not least made the actual commitment based primarily on the combination of governtment incentive options coupled with incredibly inexpensive lending. I basically wasn’t able to imagine precisely how economical everything turned out and as a consequence my spouse and i will have already been another solar power home for approximately one 30 days and in addition everything seem as if it all is definitely working out great. We can literally relax and watch just how very much power my spouse and i aer preserving every day and also it is truly pretty awesome. I alway thought that solar power must have been supported by means of a large amount of hype however , My spouse and i will certainly convey to you that it is in fact the bona fide deal. I wish my spouse and i had implemented it years ago.
