do you have use of a courtesy car on your policy.Handy if have, insurance rush your car as they dont like paying for your courtesy car for long.

You’ll have found out by now, I expect, but for the information of others the insurers will tell you their local authorised garage to contact arrange to take it in. The idea of an authorised garage is that they can deal direct with the company, usually on the phone, and you don’t have to hawk it around to several places for quotes.

Once they’ve had a look at it they’ll tell you. Shouldn’t take long at all.

Straight forward own damage claims with no third party (TP) involvement are usually nice and quick.

As you’re with Direct Line, unless you paid the extra premium you won’t get a courtesy car whilst yours is being repaired but depending on which local approved repairer they refer you to, and their workload, you should get the car back long before your baby is due.

This very much depends on your currents circumstances, making this queary quite a conundrum. It depends on your age and no claims bonus but should not be more than 2 months.

Get your vehicle to a panel workshop of your insurance company immediately so that the repairer can submit an estimate of repairs to the insurance company. Then, the insurance company will appoint an adjuster to ascertain the extent of loss and finalise a report to the insurance company. From then on, you might need to chase the insurance company to approve repairs on your vehicle as soon as possible. Tell the officer in charge of your claim. They will understand that you need your vehicle urgently. After the approval, the workshop/repairer can start to repair your vehicle and depends on the extent of damages as well as other vehicles that they (the repairer) have to do as well (please be understanding in this respect), it should be repaired within your time frame. Just tell the repairer that you really need your vehicle urgently.

It depends on the company, some have drive thru claims and will give you a check on the spot, others make you get estiments, then you take car to repair shop and thay will tell you how long it will be in the shop, from what you said 2 days in the shop should do it.

Tell your friend to start getting estimates and forward them to the agency. This will help speed up the process. Make sure he keeps hounding them and puttin pressure on the claim. Remember they will do everything they can to take a long time and to avoid the claim. 1 months should be enough time but of course it all depends on the agency and the shop agreement.

If you keep on at them it can be sorted quickly but you will have to do a lot of the running around and phone calls yourself.
