There are ferries that go up the inside passage from Bellingham (1.5 hours north of Seattle). Most fishing boats or cargo ships would have to be a private arrangement. They are business-related and you’d have to get permission from the business owners to ride with them. In all likelihood, they would not take you, as you would be considered a liability. In other words, if anything were to happen to you, they could get sued.

I looked into this once and all I was able to find was an Alaska ferry from Prince Rupert in Canada. I also found out that the ferry would cost just about as much as a cruise ship, so I opted for the cruise figuring if I was going to pay that much, I might as well really enjoy myself.
